On November 24, 2018, the ground-breaking ceremony of Savannakhet Road Improvement and Construction Project in Laos, which will be constructed by NORINCO International in EPC mode, was held at the Thapangthong in Savannakhet Province. The Minister of Transporation, the Governor of Savannakhet, the Minister of Energy and Minerals, and the Deputy Minister of Finance of Laos, as well as Mr. Dong Jifeng, the Assistant President of NORINCO International attended the ceremony.

Mr. Dong Jifeng said that the NORINCO International has maintained friendly cooperation with various departments of the Lao Government for a long time and has successfully completed numbers of major projects. This road project connects the two national highways in Laos and will greatly improve the infrastructure level in southern Laos. The NORINCO International attaches great importance to the implementation of this project, invests a lot of manpower and material resources, and will carry out control in all aspects of quality, progress, safety and environmental protection to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation of Laos expressed his gratitude to NORINCO for its support to the project. He mentioned that the project will greatly promote local economic development, reduce poverty and improve Lao people's living standards. The Governor of Savannakhet Province requested the project team to ensure the quality and progress of the project, and the provincial government will provide convenience and support for the project implementation. 

The project is a road improvement project with a total length of 88.2 kilometers with the speed of 80 kilometers per hour. During the ceremony, the project team handed over two sanitation vehicles to the local government to support local municipal development.
