On the morning of March 29, 2019, jointly sponsored by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and the China Public Diplomacy Association, the first “Belt and Road” Short Film Competition hosted by the Huanqiu Wang was held at the People’s Daily New Media Building. Chinese and foreign guests and dozens of representatives of those are working on the global “Belt and Road” projects attended the awards ceremony.
In this competition, more than 300 short videos involving projects from over 70 countries submitted by over 160 organizations and individuals were collected. After a week of intense voting, the short video The Dream Rising in the Mountain recommended by Namphay Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China North Industries Co., Ltd., won the “Good Story of Chinese Enterprises” award in the competition.
The video tells the story between the company's local Lao Employee Mr. XaySee and the “Belt & Road” project. Mr. XaySee is one of the first local Laos staff trained by the company. By working at Namphay Hydropower Station, Mr. XaySee not only learned professional skills, but also achieved competitive income and sound career development. The job also helped him solve the problem of long-term separation from his wife. The video tells the story of Mr. XaySee’s career growth in the Power Station and the realization of his dream. It shows that Namphay Hydropower Station has brought about more convenience for local people. At the same time, it has also promoted the economic development of Laos, which reflects the concept of people-to-people bond and common prosperity of “Belt & Road” Initiative.
